Associate Professor
Judit Pieldner is Associate Professor with habilitation in the field of Film and Media Studies. She obtained her BA, MA, and PhD degrees in Philology from Babeș–Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses at the Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania, Faculty of Economics, Socio-Human Sciences and Engineering, Department of Human Sciences, Miercurea Ciuc. Her research interests primarily focus on the relationship between film and the other arts, the analysis of intermediality in art-house and experimental cinema, the relationship between film and literature, the theory and analysis of screen adaptation. In the field of Film and Media Studies, she published the volumes Adaptation, Remediation and Intermediality: Forms of In-Betweenness in Cinema (2020) și Szöveg, kép, mozgókép kapcsolatai Bódy Gábor és Jeles András filmművészetében [Relations among Text, Image and Motion Picture in Gábor Bódy’s and András Jeles’s Cinematic Art] (2015). She has published numerous articles, among others, in the scholarly journal Acta Universitatis Sapientiae, Film and Media Studies and chapters in volumes edited by Ágnes Pethő: Affective Intermediality. Moving Images Between Media, Sensation and Reality (2026), Caught In-Between. Intermediality in Eastern European and Russian Cinema (2020), The Cinema of Sensations (2015), Film in the Post-Media Age (2012) and Words and Images on the Screen: Language, Literature, Moving Pictures (2008). She was a member of three UEFISCDI exploratory research projects, which investigated figurations of intermediality in Central and Eastern European films, the changing forms of cinematic in-betweenness in the digital age, and the affective performativity of intermediality in contemporary cinema. She was also a member of the organizing team for several international conferences at the Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania.
