The National Youth Council of Hungary (Nemzeti Ifjúsági Tanács / NIT) and its partners are launching a two-year training programme with EU support. The project, funded by the Erasmus+ programme, will provide training for teachers and public officials, and will also establish a knowledge centre and information portal.

About the project
The aim of the programme called "Promoting and Improving Existing Methods of Youth Participation" (PRIME) is for hundreds of young people in the Carpathian Basin to learn "democracy", i.e. to become familiar with a culture of debate based on respect for others, to defend their own rights and those of their colleagues. The PRIME programme will launch accredited continuous training courses aimed to develop the skills of teachers and local government officials, especially those working with young people. It also seeks to build a strong system of cross-border training for student leaders by establishing a knowledge centre and information portal.
The project will be coordinated by the National Youth Council of Hungary from 2022-2024 (for the duration of the programme), in collaboration with professional and academic organisations, such as Sapientia University, the Union of Hungarian High School Students in Romania, the Students' Association of Selye János University, University of Pécs, Selye János University, as well as local government organisations - Székesfehérvár City Council, Covasna County Council - and the Office of the Commissioner for Educational Rights (Hungary).
